Church Historian Grant Wacker and Reckoning with the Past  —  My aim in teaching Christian history at Duke Divinity School has been to help my students hear, truly hear, the voices of the past echoing down the canyons of time, calling us to discern not only how the church has been embedded in its history, but also how God has worked through its history. That challenge prevents the church historian’s work from ever becoming just another job.
