Interview with Mark Movsesian: Religious Liberty at the Present Time — The question now of religious accommodation is a lot more murky. There is now a great deal of pressure being put on the traditional American ideal that religion is special and deserves special protection under the law. That’s a cultural shift—not a legal shift, but of course culture drives law in a democratic society, and so as the culture shifts, if we think more and more as a people that religion doesn’t merit special protection, or in fact that religion may be inimical to some of our values and needs to be restrained, then that’s going to change the law, too.
